The news project was very interesting, because it gave me lots of freedom to explore and come up with something to fit the assignment also do it about something that was important to me. I tried in these images to use structured information to communicate points from the articles I’d read. The red, white and blue color scheme was a subconscious theme in this project.

I wanted the posters to be much more image-centered, although the far right required text to make its point. Working in a large format and seeing them printed was fun. Maybe just because of impact, I like these better than the previous images.

The doodles and sketches evolved by accident – I literally started doodling on a page I’d already drawn one of my pieces on and realized I’d better make it count, and the piece on the right was born. It became a huge part of my final project. The comic on the top left was a big technical accomplishment, taking over 3 straight hours to complete.
