So last year I went with MassArt to Virginia to take part in a collaborative project between said school, the Virginia Military Institute, and the Timber Framer’s Guild.  And this year we did it again.  Most students, more cadets, and more fun.  The students designed the structure for a Habitat for Humanity community that was being built not far from where we all stayed and worked, on the Mullen’s property in Rockbridge County.  It’s always a treat to do these projects, a real escape from life into something idyllic and workmanlike, and this was no exception.  Check out some photos below.

SIM Big Show

Every year, the Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM) department has their own department-wide show, showcasing the breadth and variety of its students’ work.  This year is my first year in SIM, and I’ve been involved in SIM-related projects and events more than any thing I’ve done at any school yet.  It’s fantastic.  I was asked to stage manage the performance portion of this year’s Big Show, and not knowing what that meant or even what the Big Show was, I said ‘sure.’  It was really big, pretty stressful, and really awesome. Poetry Slam

Well, as some of you know, I’ve written poetry for some time now, including at an open mic last year, to a wonderful audience response.  This year, the monthly events are starting up again, with the first about two weeks ago.  Only this time, I entered in the poetry slam competition portion after the open mic.  Here are my 3 entries…
